The author who taught us the way of life: Roald Dahl

It’s September 13th. One of the greatest authors of children’s books, Roald Dahl, would have been 101 years old today!
More than a century later, his books are still relevant, mainly because each of them carries in it a number of lessons for kids and adults alike. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest life lessons that Roald Dahl gave us through his magical books:

Lesson 1: If you are unique, embrace it. It is magical!

Most of Dahl’s major characters are unique or, say, different from what we would call ‘regular’. From Willy Wonka to Matilda’s family, he has always encouraged us to stay who we are.

He always taught us that being different is more than okay. . it is magical!

Lesson 2: Dreams really do come true if we work towards them.

Remember how Charlie worked towards getting the golden ticket and how James wanted a better family who treated him well? It all came true because they worked towards it.

Whatever we wish for can become a reality provided we follow the right path and do the right things.

Lesson 3: Never judge someone based on their appearance

This lesson is consistent through Roald Dahl’s books. He has always insisted that we make decisions based on one’s character and not on one’s appearance.

Lesson 4: Have a lot of fun!

Whatever you are doing, you are doing for a reason. Why not have fun with it? Fun is the way of life, according to Roald Dahl.

Lesson 5: Stop doubting yourself

It is important that we be confident and decisive. What-iffing and doubting will barely do us any good.

Lesson 6: Be mischievous sometimes!

Children are inherently mischievous and it is completely okay to pull mischief out of the bag once in a while. It makes life very interesting and let’s kids stay kids!

Lesson 7: Read, read, read!

“If you want to go anywhere in life, you have to read a lot of books!”
